I\'m not able to format my new 4G scandisk on my Kodak point-&-shoot

My new 4 gig scan disk won't format in either my Kodak or my Samsung point-and-shoot cameras. Someone said that it's probably not the same OS needed to make it work. Is there something special needed to make it work or is it a lost cause?

Sandisk has a manual slider to un-protect the write feature of the drive.
