I'm having a new system built for my wife with 2 SSDs plus one HD for data e. I would appreciate a recommendation of a 750- 1TB drive which is reliable and reasonably quiet.
After much research, I had settled on the Western Digital Caviar Black series but many reviewers say "too loud."
Thanks in advance to the experts.

If there's no great demands on the system, you might consider a Momentus ..... w/o the SSD's ..... and I'd have to recommend against two SSD's anyway.

With a single SSD .... tier 1 if a 240 GB in ya budget, tier 3 if it's 120 GB

I'd get a Barracuda XT if budget allowed ....2 GB if not a 3

I have the 2GB model w/ a Vertex 3 max IOPS ..... in a dual boot (off HD or SSD via BIOS) box

SSD boots to windows in 15.6 secs
HD boots in 21.2 secs .... not too shabby

Jack, thanks for the very interesting reply. I don't need such huge size as these drives. I'm committed to my current set up of 2 SSDs + 1 HD and want to avoid the hybrid drives.
