Is this safe to do?

My CPU is overclocked from 3.2 ghz to 3.8 ghz. I was wondering if it's safe to switch back and forth between my default clocks and my overclock.

The reason is because GTA4 doesn't like overclocks for some reason and has issues with them. I don't have any issues in other games and stress tests say my OC is stable. So is it safe to go back to my default clocks whenever I want to play GTA4, then when I'm done playing switch back to my overclock? Or is changing back and forth dangerous?

It's fine. A bit of extra work, but harmless otherwise.

If you go into the bios there is an option to save your overclocked settings so that when you want to play your game just reboot and switch to the default stock settings and boot into Windows and when your done just boot up in your saved overclock and it's easy to do.

It's harmless, every time you clock down to stock /reduce the voltage you're putting less stress on the CPU which means its better for it.

IMO there is no danger in tuning down to stock.
