Power Surge?

So I just bought BFBC2 last night to play on my new computer.

Specs:

core 2 quad q9400 at 3.4ghz
ASUS P5G41-M LE/CSM MB
4gb ddr2 ram at 800MHz
BFG nVidia 8800 GTS OC 512mb
Green 640 watt psu at 28A 12v rail or w/e


So I was playing last night and all of the sudden the whole computer just goes black and restarts.

It has now done this multiple times, but hasn't on my less "graphic hungry" games

It says that the Anti-Surge mechanism on the MB noticed that the power supply was surging so it shut down.

Does this mean I have a bad PSU and need to upgrade?

Or is there another solution to fix this?

Yes, looking at your system its more than likely your PSU... cheap generic POS if i must say... look at the modxstream pro or the corsair or the antec tp/earth lineup, theyll all be fine for your system

Try turning the OC on your q9400 down to default. Your PSu does seem to be the culprit here and the extra draw due to OC is not helping!

Get a new psu!
