My MB needs a 8 pin power connector but I have only 4

My friend said it would still work using only 4...? I'm too scared to try it.

The 4 pin will provide the same 12v power from the PSU as an 8 pin. The extra four pins are added grounding pins.

Thanks. I'm unable to plug it in to the pins closer to CPU because the connectors don't match... i hop[e thats not a big problem.

As long as the 4 pin 12v connector is installed correctly, 12v power will be provided to the processor. The pins are keyed, the 4 pin only fits one way.
