Laptop Screen is Blank/Only Starts in Safe Mode

I own an HP Pavilion Entertainment PC and the screen has stopped working. It will only start up in SAFE MODE. Some specifics: AMD Athlon 64x2 1.71 GHz, 2 GB RAM, Nvidia GeForce Go6150 graphics card, Windows Vista SP1. I'd appreciate any ideas on what could be wrong and fixes. Thanks.
