NO SOUND....SUDDENLY

hey....i have a compaq presario CQ60-418 DX.....it's got windows 7 (32 bit) running on it......the speakers were fine in the morning......but about 8 hrs later.....i switch on the laptop and there is no sound......i have checked everything and i have also updated all the sound drivers.....but still no sound.......need help 'cause i can't live without music.....

go to start--control panel--sound and see if playback device is ticked

also check your sound device is listed in device manager by right clicking my computer--properties--device manager--sound and video and game controllers

do you put it to sleep/hibernate, or shutdown in between using it and the audio stopping?

If you still see the device and it doesnt work even after a restart, see if headphones work. That will isolate the speaker hardware at least.
