Dell Vostro 200s - graphics card upgrade from ATI Radeon HD 2400

Hi all,

I purchased a Dell Vostro 200s a couple of years back and think I need to upgrade the graphics card. I have started using the machine for CAD and finite element analysi simulations and believe that the 256MB ATI Radeon HD 2400 is not up to the job (I can't see some of the lines I should be!). Having looked around I understand I need to go for a low profile card and have come across this 512MB card from IT247: XFX Radeon HD 4650

http://www.it247.com/product/1/XFXCA03H/HD-465X-YAD2-XFX-Radeon-HD-4650-graphics-adapter-Radeon-HD-4650-512-MB.html

Is it suitable and is it a reputable seller? It seems to me to be the best price around.

Many thanks

Dan

  1. I think your only concern is whether or not your power supply can support the more powerful card.
  2. Is that not a slimline system that requires a low profile card? The link is not to a low profile card!
