Converting Windows OS to Mac OS on a SATA Motherboard

My husband and I built a computer for him to do has music on, we were told that we would have no trouble converting it to Mac. The program we were told to use won't convert it because it is IDE based and we have a SATA motherboard. Does anyone know of a program that will work to convert the system that will run with SATA motherboard,
