Im thinking about buying a new computer as my older one has gone bust. I've been looking at various websites, and need to keep the budget around £1000 ($1500).
I decided the cheapest place would be a site called Vibox.co.uk

I created a computer with these specs at around £1200 :

Processor: Intel 2 Quad Core Q9505 2.83 MHz
memory: 8GB DDR2 ram 800MHz
Motherboard: Asus P5Q Pro turbo
Grx card: ATI Radeon 5850
Sound Card: Asus Xonar D2X PCI-E 1.0
power supply: 550 Watts

Im pondering whether this system would run the latest games and media and also how long it will be before these parts become obsolete ?

many thanks.

Agree. If you're buying prebuilt, you're not getting a good computer for that price.

With your budget, you're easily looking at an i5, mobo with USB 3.0/SATA 6 GBps support and an HD 5850 (the 5870 is possible as well), as long as you build it yourself.

Probably the easiest would be to go with the VIbox GA-230. It comes with the Intel CoreI7-920 CPU

Upgrade to 6GB DDR3 (from 3GB)
Add Windows 7 - 64 bit as the Operating System
Add ATI Radeon 5770 for a graphics card.

This brings you to just under 1000. If budget allows for more, go for a better graphics card and maybe a sound card (though onboard is generally good enough).
