As title says, I'm using an ASRock z77 extreme 4 mobo, what offset voltage should I use? and what level load line (1-5)?

Also, quick general OC question, why do cpu's still run at ~1.2V when stock but can actually go up to more ghz by OC'ing whilst LOWERING the voltage by an offset? Doesn't that mean intel's auto setting is overvolting for stock 3.4ghz?

New to overclocking, sorry if that is dumb :)

Honestly I would expect such an expensive cpu to reach 4ghz period but Ivy Bridge is harder to work with once you start aiming for higher clocks. You likely won't be able to do low voltage overclocking but you might be lucky to have gotten a good sample. So start by raising the multiplier by 1x increments until you start having problems. Then up the voltage a little and bench it. If it still crashes report back.
