So upgadingz ma athlon 3200+ to dat phenom IIx4 with my radeon 1600XT will increase ma frames to that in cod 6 and 4?But seriously, what graphics card are you using?
He is using 9800GT 1GB
But yes that is very big increase in fps in some nearly twice (i don't count GTA4 cos it WANTS a quad core
so increase by 20fps, from 12 to 32 isn't that stunning)edit - but he also did a RAM upgrade. So i think that increase is normal ( if he's using vista or win7 )
lols i also tried using a 2gb 677 ddr2 ram it gave me
Call of duty 4 MW - 60 AVG
call of duty 6 MW2 - 52 AVG
Grand theft auto - 28 AVG(no AA highest settings 30 VD)
prototype - 43 AVG
assain creed - 38.3 AVG
battle field badcompany 2 - 45 AVG
soon i plan to upgrade me gpu to 5870 1 gb in may then i would get back to you all with new fps
the main diff was with my oc in processor
before oc with 4 GB ddr2 677
Call of duty 4 MW - 58 AVG
call of duty 6 MW2 - 54 AVG

overcloking isnt always the same overcloking too much can damage the processor and the moboand also reduces a gpu or cpus life
This is why you test stability with prime95 for 8 hours and never put the voltage past the specs.
I got confused because I thought you were comparing stock to a good overclock, not to an irresponsible overclock.
Let me know when you get your FPS, I really want to know what you get in Battlefield BC2.
Im runing an Intel Core 2 Quad Q8200 @2.3ghz with ATI Radeon 4890HD with 4GB DDR2.
Im going to upgrade my CPU to a faster quad core and RAM to DDR3 in the next months.
I am torn between i7 or Phenom 965.
I get 45fps average in Battlefield currently.

Depends on your needs. If you go mainly for gaming and multitasking, the X4 965 and dual DDR3 will do the job with no slowdowns.
But if you look on maaad pro-formance and and running many (and i mean MANY
) apps in the background while you play CPU intensive game like BFBC2 then you should go for i7 and tripple channel DDR3.I think when you are in really heeaavy fight in BFBC2 with all settings maxed out the usage of an i7 920 goes up to 45-50% (i have read that somewhere)
But that might depend on your screen res though.
If you ask me you dont need to upgrade at all your quad core is just good
the upgrade Scheme
Dual Core E5200 - Core2Duo or Quad core,Phenom II
Core2Duo - Quad core,Phenom II
Quad core - i7 if you are insane
and DDR3 is similar to DDR2 you wont notice anything.but DDR3 is far more ENERGY
eff.
let me know your RESolution

I play with settings on HIGH at 1920x1080 resolution connected via HDMI into a 23" Acer LCD monitor.
Like I said, with a Core 2 Quad @ 2.3ghz, ATI 4890 HD Saphire Vapor X, and 4 GB DDR2 800....
I'm managing a stable middle 40's FPS in these settings.
So you don't think I should upgrade? I had a Phenom II x4 955 + Gigabyte GA-790XTA combo. in mind....
But let me know, I don't want to spend money if the core 2 quad is similiar to the Phenom and if DDR2 is similiar to DDR3, I will just wait till later. Thanks!

Try overclocking your CPU before deciding to upgrade. A single 4890 isn't too hard to keep up with.
What settings do you use in BFBC2? DX9? AA?
Bad Company 2 is pretty demanding with the right eye candies turned on. It can make my system chug (not really chug, but I'm picky with my FPS/smoothness on these first person shooters) with 8x AA on DX10, so I suffice with 4 (sadly).
If you do decide to upgrade, Phenom II is great for the price. Kind of hard to recommend someone to upgrade from 775 to AM3 considering Core2Quad (yorksfield) still leads AMD (slightly) when you OC if you can find one for a decent price. But Phenom II is still good, and are priced fantastically.

My CPU usage per the Riva Tuner osd hits about 45-60% using a 955/GTX275 19x12 combo. A lot of the time I see the GPU actually hit the 99% wall but in firefights it might back off a little (CPU still around 60%). I have seen claims from SLI/CF users that their 4 core will wall around 75% with a dual GPU sol. If the game would use full CPU juice, I'm sure it'd be GPU bound.
