Asus cd rom does not read except the recovery dvd

When I insert any cd or DVD in the rom the computer may hang up for a long time as it trying to read when Iam pressing on the cd for opening or properties the cd is ejected spontaneously and a message saying insert a disk in the drive. when I put the recovery DVD IT TAKES ALONG TIME but finally it can read.

ANY SUGGESTION?????. THANKS.
