Monitor says no signal then shuts down

when i turn on the computer a blank screen comes that says "no signal" then shuts down

Is this a laptop or a desktop?

How is it connected?

Are you sure it is connected properly and to the correct video port?

Is the monitor set to use that port or does it auto detect and change source accordingly?

Do you have another cable to try?

Do you have a different source cable to try so you can try it in another means?
