Hello,
currently I have an Asus P7P55D-E motherboard. I want to buy the newly released i5-760 cpu, however I don't know if my pc will work. Asus website says that they add i5 760 support from 100X bios version. My bios is probably older. Will I at least be able to boot and update bios? Or I won't be able to turn my pc at all? Basically the 760 is the same 750 with added multiplier so I think it should work. But I can't buy the cpu until I know for sure.

Are you sure? Found a similar thread saying it should work hardforum.com/showthread.php?p=1036021259
Also is there a way to update bios without cpu?

hmm,it maybe possible then, but AFAIK if a motherboard requires a new BIOS too accept a CPU,then it won't work. But since you are getting mixed replies, then the best thing is to try it yourself

And what if it doesn't work? I don't have any other lga 1156 cpus to update bios. I'll wait for more replies. Almost everyone who buys the i5 760 now, has older bios versions and face the same problem.
