Machine specs :
Happens while playing LOTRO ( lord of the rings on line)
quad core 6600 2.4 GHz
3 Gigs of ram
8800 gt 512MB

After about two hours of playing my computer skips for a sec then the graphics mess up on the screen requiring a power button reboot. After this happens
The machine again freezes after a range of about 10-20 minutes. I thought maybe it was over heating so I got all the dust out of the case, fans, and heats sinks (GPU and CPU).

I ran a heat monitor on the video card and can see it ides ( after the crash) at about 68c. This seems very high for an idling temp. Load the game and it shoots up to 89c and keeps climbing the more people I run in to in the game. I am focusing on the heat because I have seen this type of crash in the past.

I may be over looking something if any one has any suggestions please let me know.

I run the game dx10 very high with not problem ( till now. also how do you check if your running dx10 or not)

Things to do when i get home :
Uninstall and re in stall the video drivers.
See if nvidia has a monitoring application for heat , see if it logs temps

Maybe I just need like a cooler for the video card not sure those temps seem high to me
