First, I want to state straight up that I don't really know how to choose a motherboard. I typically just look at reviews and see which one is reviewed better.

Anyway, I am looking for an x58 motherboard. My other parts include a core i7-930, an ocz vertex 2 ssd, and possibly two gtx 460s.

I stumbled across a few that seem appealing. This:

ASUS P6X58D-E LGA 1366 Intel X58 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard, $239.99

and this

GIGABYTE GA-X58A-UD3R LGA 1366 Intel X58 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard, $209.99
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128423

Which one should I choose? Or would you recommend something else that is more in line monetarily with my other parts?

Also, does anyone have experience with open box deals? Here is the ASUS mobo open box deal. I am a little wary. However, I would save $65 if I bought it, which I could use for a new mouse or something.

My intended final build price is around or over $1500 (trying to get a "futureproof" computer, as hard as that is. Have a lot of stuff from earlier, like keyboard/case/mouse, so I can spend some more money getting higher-end).

1) I would avoid an Open Box component. It was returned for some reason or another so why risk it?

2) I lean toward the ASUS, as I favor them over Gigabyte. However, Gigabyte is the best valued overall LGA 1366 board. It is truly a tough decision but based on your cost concerns, I recommend the Gigabyte.
