sure it is not you available RAM?

Some might be assigned to the intenal Video card and some is used by Windows.

internal or onboared graphics of 945 will not share that much of RAM..... and if OS using it still it will not hide the amount of ram..

Thanku for the reply, Im gonna try each one separately to check if any is faulty. If not its just my intel 945. But I read in my motherboard's manual it does support 2 X 2gb DDR2.......so I dnno why a whole chunk of 1.12gb would get sucked up by the systems reserve

I tried separately and all the rams are functional. I even added a 2Gb + 1Gb and it showed usable memory 2.87. But when I add total of 4gb it still shows usable memory 2.87. I have tried to update my BIOS also..still no luck and my motherboard clearly supports 4gb

Im 100% sure Im using 64 bit Win 7 and yea I check each RAM individually. The worst part is this problem is so common but I havent found any decent answers. I would have accepted it as a fault in my motherboard but it clearly supports 4gb and so does this site...state the same

Open System Properties and open Task Manager/Performance tab. They will give you info about your OS (32-bit/64-bit), your memory amount. Let us know what you see there. You can also download a copy of CPU-Z to get info about your system.

You can download a copy of cpu-z @ http://www.cpuid.com/softwares/cpu-z.html . Be sure to download the correct version 32-bit versus 64-bit.
