Upgrading cpu

Hi i currently use my cpu to play games such as WoW, BF3, SWTOR, and soon GW2, i currently run with

Intel Core i3-2120 Sandy Bridge 3.3GHz LGA 1155 65W Dual-Core Desktop Processor Intel HD Graphics 2000 BX80623I32120

MSI Z68A-G43 (G3) LGA 1155 Intel Z68 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard

SAPPHIRE Radeon HD 6870 1GB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.1 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFireX Support Video Card (100314-3L )

Although i run all these games great i was told there is a lot of room for upgrades so my question is, should i consider perhaps and i5? the i7's i checked out seemed pretty expensive and i'd rather not spent to much at the moment. Would i notice a increased amount of performance if i just bumped up to and i5, would it be worth it.

go for the i5 2500k or i5 3570k , u will feel the diff in bf3 in multiplayer and generally faster but none of those games require more than i3 i think

When your computer is used primarily for gaming the single most important part is the video card., If you want a performance increase the a new video card will get you that more than a new cpu will.
Right now you have a 6870 so a performance boost would be to get a 7870. The i5 cpu will not give you the fps increase that the 7870 will.
