Need help choosing a new graphics card with my GA-P35-DS3L

Hi,

I built my system (Intel Q6600 with GA-P35-DS3L) about two years ago with a single Radeon HD 3850, and I'm looking to upgrade to something in the 5670 range. My 3850 takes power directly from the power supply, but the 5670s that I've looked at draw power through the motherboard. My PSU is a Corsair 450VX.

Will this motherboard support a 5670 (or any other card) drawing power through it? If it can't, what options do I have for a card that will take direct power from the PSU?

Thanks in advance.

  1. Power wise - you're okay. I like the HD 5770. Your MOBO has a PCI Express X16 slot so you're good.

Thanks, good to hear. Has anyone here actually used a card drawing power through the mobo with one of these boards?
