Can a graphics card be used on any motherboard?

i heard that there is a memory limit for your graphics card in the motherboard, is this true or will any motherboard be able to run any graphics card. btw i have a sufficiant psu at 850watt ;)
 
If you are running a 32-bit OS, and you have more than 4 gig of RAM, then yes. A 32 -bit OS can only address 4 Gigabytes of RAM TOTAL. That includes motherboard RAM, Video RAM and any other RAM installed on the system. For example if you have 4GB of system RAM and a 512MB video card, then you will only be able to utilize 3.5GB of your system RAM.
