I play online games like WOW, LOTR, and EVE, no 1st person shooter stuff. I do some custom video stuff as well, but nothing professional. Bottom line, I have roughly $1500 to spend on a PC and this is what I was planning to spend it on...

I will be pulling the trigger in 24 hours, so please comment rapidly if I am jumping off a cliff on any of this :)

lol, yeah. i have a 955, its amazing, but i hate to say it, the i5 is a better buy. it cost 20-30$ more, but outperforms it pretty considerably, and the whole system probably cost about 50$ more then a am3 one.

Are my options for upgrading a CPU in 12 months more limited with the i5? That's one of the reasons why I was going AMD...

to be honest, nobody knows. the am3 system is going to last atleast 6-core, and maybe 8-core. the 1156 socket seems like it will go up with the 1366, as the budget socket, but that hasnt been confirmed. if you think about it, i don think intel would release a consumer grade series that has been great in the i5, i3, and lesser i7s, just to pull the plug on it. 1366 socket is naturally expensive, so they cant have budget builds with it, which is why amd=WIN in the under 200$ bracket. lol the only thing i think is a bad sign is their naming, if the 6 cores 1366 will be i9, will the 1156 be even and be i8
