Hi Everyone,

I'm wanting to replace the SATA HDD in my Acer travelmate 7730 laptop with a 128GB SSD but I don't know anything about it.

How do I know which SSDs are compatible with my motherboard and the pins from the current HDD?

My current HDD is 150GB Hitachi HTS543232L9A300

What kind of performance increases can I expect or will it not be that effective on such on old machine (2.66 GHZ dual core CPU)?

Thanks in advance for any help you can give

Ash

OK,

Will my motherboard restrict the performance increases? I'm reading about tenfold increases in boot times and other operations....can I expect that kind of improvement?

I have no real experience with notebook HD's but for desktops a 1st tier SSD (15.2 seconds) will boot in about 2/3 the time as a 1st tier (21,2 secs) HD.

One option ya might wanna consider is a Seagate Momentus.....boots windows in 17 seconds, has 750 GB of space and is just a bit more moola than a 120 GB SSD
