SSD Compatability (noob question) Tags: SSD Hard Drives Storage Product Last response: January 3, 2012 4:24 AM in Storage Share ashscott January 2, 2012 8:57:44 AM Hi Everyone, I'm wanting to replace the SATA HDD in my Acer travelmate 7730 laptop with a 128GB SSD but I don't know anything about it. How do I know which SSDs are compatible with my motherboard and the pins from the current HDD? My current HDD is 150GB Hitachi HTS543232L9A300 What kind of performance increases can I expect or will it not be that effective on such on old machine (2.66 GHZ dual core CPU)? Thanks in advance for any help you can give Ash More about : ssd compatability noob question rolli59 a c 265 G Storage January 2, 2012 11:00:25 AM Your current drive is SATA 3Gb so any laptop SSD should fit the same connection. There will be a large increase in drive speed. http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/ssd-upgrade-hdd-per... m 0 l ashscott January 3, 2012 4:15:32 AM OK, Will my motherboard restrict the performance increases? One option ya might wanna consider is a Seagate Momentus.....boots windows in 17 seconds, has 750 GB of space and is just a bit more moola than a 120 GB SSD http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168... m 0 l Can't find your answer ?
