Need Help, I Don't See Ports in Device Manager...?

Hello,

I have a Dell Inspiron 1545 laptop running Windows XP. For some reason Ports is not appearing in the device manager. Anyone know what it might be?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  1. Are the ports enabled in the bios? Does the laptop even have ports (parallel, serial, or firewire)? If you have "other devices" in your device manager, you may need drivers installed for those ports.
  2. According to the specs, it doesnt appear to have a serial or parallel port.

That's not uncommon on today's computers since most devices today use USB.
