So I just picked up my i7-930 from Microcenter today and the guy at the store said I'd need at least 6GB of RAM in order to utilize dual channel. I searched on google and on this website, and didn't find anything about this. Does this guy know what he's talking about? I was only planning on buying 4GB of memory, but might have to change this.

Solution
He is mistaken, having 6GB RAM allows you to utilize triple channel not dual channel.
You can use a dual channel on a X58 platform too,so you can buy 4GB if you like
