I have a Compaq nc8000 running XPpro, system using 100% cpu, and the USB ports don't work. Procexp reveals it is just one usbport.sys thread maxing the cpu. If I kill the thread, the system returns to normal, altho the usbs are still dead.
The system is so slow procexp often just dies, so that's a bandaid not a solution.
Is it possible to associate the troublesome threadID with a specific item(s) in device manager so I can disable it?
