When i right click on the XP volume icon in the system tray and select
"Open volume control", all i get is the icon labelled "front speaker"
in the task bar at the bottom.

When i click on the icon in the task bar, a very fast outline of the
window appear to move to the very top left of the screen, but
disappears. When i right click on the task bar icon and try to select
Maximize, it is greyed out.

I do have SP2 loaded, but that was a few weeks ago. The volume control
panel worked until 2 days ago.

I've already uninstalled the onboard sound device and windows
reinstalled them. I also removed the windows media player and
reinstalled that.

I would appreciate any help with this problem.
