    Welcome to the forums.

Are you gimping along on a dual core socket 939 CPU? If not, you might want to consider getting a complete new platform. AGP is outdated tech and most of the AGP systems were single core. Single core doesn't really cut it anymore especially for gaming. If you are on a dual core system, the best AGP card is the 4670 AGP. They don't make the new cards for AGP, so that's the best out there period.
  2. :hello:
AGP cards are outdated so they are also overpriced.

But if you want a card then please mention the budget.

These are some good AGP cards which will be good for the game:

Make sure whatever you get has GDDR3 memory :)
  3. Consider getting a complete new platform. If you wanna play, don't waste more money in that old computer.
Here you have a good configuration if you decide to change it (european prices):

    AMD PHENOM II X2 555 2x3.2Ghz AM3 BOX BLACK EDITION 92€
    Noctua NH-D14 67€
    Gigabyte GA-790XTA-UD4 "AMD 790X+SB750" ATX Socket AM3 Dual-DDR3 118€
    G.Skill 4GB DDR3-1600 F3-12800CL7D-4GBRH Black Ripjaws 7-7-7-24-2N 1.6V 109€
    HIS H577FL1GD HD 5770 1GB GDDR5 PCIe 2.1 DVI/HDMI/DisplayPort 138€

    Final price: 524€

And that CPU cooler can be dropped for something far cheaper.
  5. Yes, of course. There are some cheaper coolers with a good performance.

And If he doesn't want to overclock the cpu, the stock one works ok.

I love overclocking, and, you know... that cooler is which I would choose.

Nice but if he only has say $100 or less then he would need an AGP card in most cases and the ones listed above would be fine for GTA San Andreas as its a pretty old game.

Man I remember when it was new though. The game magazines would show screens and such and it made the other GTAs look crappy. Now it looks like crap compared to GTA IV.

    Ahhhh the good old days.
