Convert scan text to word processable document

The format which previously was converted to give an editable document has disappeared from the list and I get a page of gibberish

Here's a link to CNet to download some free OCR - Optical Character Recognition - software which might get you out of trouble. I can't recommend it because I've never used it but be careful only to download what you want, not what CNet wants you to have.

Most printer/scanners come bundled with ABBYY Fine Reader so search your All Programmes menu to see if it's there - it may just have been your shortcut that fell over.
