Hello all,

So i just put a brand new XFX Radeon HD 5870 (non-oc'd version) into my recent build, but when I play games I get lower framerates than I did with my old 4670. For example, with my 4670 I was getting 30 FPS on 1600x900 but only 20 FPS with my 5870. Here are my specs:

GIGABYTE GA-MA785GM-US2H
4 GB DDR2 1066 (Corsair Dominator)
Phenom II x4 @ 3.5 GHz
Vigor Monsoon Cooler
Seagate Barracuda 7200.12 500gb
XFX Radeon HD 5870
Corsair 650TX PS
Antec 900 Case

Do you guys think the mobo is at fault, or could it be something else?

EDIT: I forgot to mention that the board is matx and that the card is so long that it rests on the south bridge. Could this be the issue?

Solved the problem, seems that even after a bios update the motherboard wouldn't let the CPU run at more than 800MHz. Got a 790FX mobo and now getting playable framerates with everything on high.

Yes, this was confirmed by CPU-z, as well as HORRIBLE framerates in games that don't require much graphics power
