Hey everyone. My old hard drive died, so I took it out and installed a new one. When I trying booting my computer, it shows that it does recognize the drive, but wont go any further than a black screen with a flashing underscore in the top left corner. The computer didn't come with any disks, so I couldn't try that, so I'm just wondering if anyone knows what may be causing this? Any help is appreciated. Thanks so much.

If you need to re install windows, which it sounds like you do..you need to change the boot priority in the bios to your disc drive. Since you are installing windows on a new HDD you will need to have your disc drive as the boot priority. That way when your computer boots up, it runs off of the optical drive and not the HDD (which is blank). Have you tried pushing spacebar on the white underscore screen?
