File shareing xp help please

I have two machines one laptop and one desktop. laptop is wireless. I cannot get the laptop to see my desktop for file sharing. desktop sees laptop. i have no firewall . I do not use simple fire shareing. both computers have same account names and passwords. even guest account passowrds are the same. I have switched the local security policys for fire sharing to classic vs guest only. I still cannot get laptop to see desktop. there is an icon in the workgroup for the desktop but access denied when clicked. I even tried CMD net use \\desktop /user:desktop\user still no use. I am a network tech and i cannot figure this out. can anyone help me
