Can't get Geforce 9800 to run on Soltek Board

Hi Guys. I hope you can help me.

I've got a GeForce 9800 low power version (The one that does'nt require any 6pin power cable to the GPU)

My mom's pc is a AMD x64 Athlon on a Soltek SL-K890PRO-939 with a 350 Watt power supply.

I can't seem to get the GPU to run.

I've tried resetting the defaults in the BIOS, with no avail.

The onboard error code is for the GPU, so I know it's the GPU not wanting to play ball.

Can you guys think of what it might be.

I was thinking maybe because the GPU is PCI-E x16 V2.0 and my board might be PCI-E-16 V1.0, but in another thread they said they are fully backwards compatable.

Help is apreciated!!!

I think the GeForce 9800 requires a PSU of at least 450W. The 350 won't handle it.

nope, your psu still can handle it because your card is doesn't need a power connector from PCI-E power cable... :)
your mobo have an onboard graphic card?
have u disable it?

It does not have onboard graphics. 0_o...

It gives me a beep code that checks out as a graphics card error.

I've had the card in another box, and it works just fine.

Many years ago I had a similar problem with a card in an old board (actually a socket A Soltek board). After checking that the card was working in another computer I pulled the motherboard out and thoroughly cleaned the graphics slot there happened to be a compilation of lint and dust that was preventing the card from making full contact.
