Need advice on a new PSU

Hello guys, I'm looking to upgrade my current PSU because it is very loud. Here's my PC :

AMD Athlon X2 6400+
ATI Radeon HD 4770
4gb Patriot PC2-6400 Ram
1 HD
1 DVD drive

I don't know much about power supplies, but this one looks reliable. Is Cooler Master a good brand?

Also, I'm pretty short on money so I'm not looking for a more powerful PSU that might be usable on a future build, only consider my current rig.

Get one with an active PFC, they are newer more efficient designs.

That unit is unfortunately peak rated which is very bad, check out the picture of the sticker it says "The 3.3V & 5V & 12V total output shall not exceed 377.9W"

We generally recommend against cheap power supplies because there is no such thing, just expensive fire crackers. The 4770 only pulls 80W so you should be able to get away with just using a corsair 400CX, but its significantly more expensive than the unit you listed, primarily because it has as much power available from its 12V rail as the other unit has total.

If you ever plan to upgrade your GPU though you will need a good 500-550, and with 5 year warranties on PSUs you wont need to buy another one for a while. It really is a good investment that you should consider making, the 550VX isnt much more than the 400CX.

Man, I was lookin at some of the PSU prices and thinking, what the hell? When did PSUs go up in price? Then I realized it was Newegg.ca LOL. I was thinking, "Hmm, the Antec 430 Green would be a great choice." Then I saw it was $80, which is a solid $20+ more than I've seen it sold for previously. =)

Cooler Master makes some decent PSUs, but I can't help but think that spending a little more money would get you higher quality... While I wouldn't call the Elite series "bad," I don't consider it "great," either. It's Cooler Master's Silent Pro and UCP series which are their truly excellent PSUs.

This one would satisfy your needs, and to be honest, it's a real bargain of a price. I honestly can't find anything I'd truly recommend for less than $60 Canadian...

I should also point out that I own an older Real Power Pro RS-550. It's still going strong after almost 2-1/2 years...

Hi Dude!

As your are pretty short on money I'm suggest this PSU,

Cybertron B2 Stealth Barebone PC - AMD Athlon 64 X2 5600+ 2.80GHz, 4GB, 400W
I think this will be effortable.
