Hi Techies,

I am looking to upgrade my motherboard/ram/processor/videocard.

I know I want a GTX 460, but I do not know which chipset I should get motherboard wise. Depending on the motherboard socket I choose, I will go with either an i5 750, a cheaper i3 or a Phenom II X4 955 BE.

My problem:

I don't know which motherboard will do the best job of utilizing the GTX 460's potential (chipset wise). I am assuming it would be better to have an NVIDIA chipset motherboard rather than an AMD chipset (790FX or 890FX) for the GTX 460.

Would someone please recommend a good MOBO chipset for the GTX 460 (in either the 1156 or AM3 series)?

Thanks,

Mike

P.S. I will not be using SLI, one 460 will be sufficient for my needs - (I have 22.1 inch monitor at 1680x1050)

Hi.

The mobos with nVidia chipset aren't good so forget that option since the nVidia GPUs can run in any mobo independent of the chipset (ATI or nVidia)

This are my suggestions for the rig:

For 1156 u can go with this ASUS P7P55D-E Pro

For AM3 is a little more complicates since exist many good mobos in other place. Currently have a 890FXA-UD5.
