Please review my first build

Hi ,

This is my $2,000 build (incl. mouse, keyboard, O/S, and MS Office) and mainly wondered if there are any issues with the compatibility of these components.

If you have better alternatives, I would love to hear it.

- Intel Core i7-860 Lynnfield 2.8GHz LGA 1156 95W Quad-Core
- ASUS P7P55D EVO LGA 1156 Intel P55 ATX Intel Motherboard
- CORSAIR XMS3 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600Western
- Digital RE3 WD1002FBYS 1TB 7200 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s
- COOLER MASTER COSMOS 1000 RC-1000-KSN1-GP (love this case)
- CORSAIR CMPSU-750TX 750W ATX12V / EPS12V
- SAPPHIRE 100281SR Radeon HD 5870 (Cypress XT) 1GB 256-bit GDDR5
- LG Black 8X BD-ROM 16X DVD-ROM 40X CD-ROM SATA Internal Combo
- W2353V-PF Black 23" 2ms(GTG) HDMI Full HD 1080P

Thanks for having a look!

Pretty nice... The Asus board I hear is a winner, the Corsair memory you can't go wrong with.

That drive is nice, the PSU is nice, the Graphics card rocks, the ROM drive is whatever, and I have that same Monitor and I LOVE IT!

All in all, I'd say you have a killer combination. I would just look at the case someone on this forum turned me on to. I just ordered it, but apparently it's the slizz.... Antect Nine Hundered Two.

I'll let you know when I receive it in a few days whether or not it's what it's cracked up to be. They rave about it in the reviews at NewEgg, though.
  2. In terms of moving the drive bay/front fan boxes around to optimize airflow, there is no case that can do what the Antec 900/902 can do.

Just make sure that the ram you have picked is 1.65V or less. Older XMS3 might be 1.7-1.9V RAM designed for AMD and older intel socket 755 motherboards.
  3. Thanks for the feedback! I'll check out the case.
  4. that build ftw, good choices and good luck
