I've been researching my first build for about a year now. That is to say, I've been orienting myself with specs and learning all I can about it. I've finally had the cash fall into my lap, so putting this together has been over the course of about a week and a half. The thing is, this needs to be ordered yesterday, because the computer I have currently is only kept due to the graces of my father. Right now, it's technically his, as he has bought and paid for it, but is letting me use it till I have the new one together.
So, onto the problem. I am building on an $800 budget, and have found what seems to be a reasonably priced motherboard that fits the processor (AMD Phenom II x4 965 BE). My choke point is that the GPU I've planned (Radeon HD 5770) is Crossfire, not SLI.
So, I need an equivalent (same price (hopefully) and similar specs), save for supporting Crossfire.
A note on why: Though I've heard many say Crossfire is gimmicky and less effective than, say, getting a better GPU, I have come to the conclusion that it will be a good way to extend the life of my budget machine, saving me from having to buy a brand new card just to keep up. This said, I hope no one tries to discourage me from it.
I thank you in advance for your help. Motherboards seem to have the least information pertaining to them, and while researching has been incredibly fun (I say that with no irony, I really have had fun ) I need an answer faster than another few days reading can provide. This machine needs to get itself together yesterday (already said that, didn't I?).
