I7 2600 or 2600k

i would like to know how it is possible that cpuz and my bios indicate that i've got a i7 2600 although i can change the core multiplier in bios to 42 or 43 instead of 34. What is the type of processor i've bought? a 2600 or a 2600K?

Cpuz clearly states when launching a game that my cpu runs at 4000+ mhz, same thing for ai suite 2.

My motherboard is an asus maximus 4 extreme Z, latest bios update. (35XX)

I know this post may seem funny but i dont' know which processor my resaler put me although i asked for a 2600"k".

If you can change the cpu multiplier, it's a "K".

i can change the cpu multiplier in bios so i guess it is a "K" even if not showing this in bios ....

You can change the multiplier on the non-K versions up to around 42 I believe. Download CPU-Z and check for for the model.
