Im ready to do a build and have about $400 to 500 to spend.
I will be pretty strict on the cost as I am layed off and am not real sure when I will return to work.
I have a Dell Optiplex GX260 that I plan to use some parts from, case(mid tower), monitor(new HP 2009m wide screen), power supply(new 650w)
keyboard, mouse. If I can get away with it I would also keep my hd and 2 optical drives but I dont know if I can because Im pretty sure they are IDE.
If they are usable, please let me know, it would save me a bit which I could use to upgrade some of the other listed components.

Thanx for the info, zip.
I wanted to use my old drive because I already have xp on it, but It came with the puter.
If I will need to buy software, then I will upgrade the HDD as well.
For a price point of $100 or less, any solid recomendations as far as a GPU?
And I did change my newegg wish list to reflect a retail version of the same MB, and also
the Athlon II X4 620.
Everything is compatible then?
What about OCing with this MB/ CPU combo?
Thanx in advance for anyone offering any advice.
I'll probably start buying the parts this week, but in a series of purchases.
MOBO and CPU will probably be the first.
Trying to get away with as tight a budget as possible.
Would the ram be a candidate for downgrading or would that be a bottleneck for this build if I went with something else?
Ive decided to stick with the ddr3 1600
I went ahead and ordered the corsair 550 watt power supply, the 650 watt I got off ebay has me worried now that Ive researched a bit more.
This a great forum, lots f experienced helpful people.
Appreciate the help zipzoomflyhigh.
Here is my build, all parts ordered and on the way.
Please tell me what you think.
I will upgrade the GPU as funds allow, still laid off.
I figure this system will be upgrade proof for a few years to come.
Opinions very welcome
And thank you to all that offered thier opinions and advice!!
