can you format a Samsungg2 640gb I\'m trying now ntfs i was told is a better clean, only thing is, its at 75% and its been running for about 6 hours now, is this correct? its running cool, no noise and it is progressing?

It sounds like the program you are using is writing zeros to the drive. In other words, it is doing a secure erase as opposed to a simple format. There is nothing wrong with this, and yes it can take a long time.

For future reference, I use this to format my hard drives. Very quick for formatting. http://gparted.sourceforge.net/livecd.php
