DD3 Tripple Channel in an AMD Mobo?

I have a friend who is offering me 3x2GB DDR3-1600 PC3-12800 RAM, which he used in an i7 system. I've got a newish AMD system, which uses dual channel ram.

What happens if I put 2 sticks of this DDR3 triple channel ram into my current system?

AMD chipsets only support dual channel memory.. The memory modules you are getting should work fine though (just check the rated operating voltage).. Since you are getting them from your friend, you (or he/she) should've no problems in installing them and check if they are working properly..
  2. So basically they'll just run like normal dual channel ram? ... no smoke.. no fire? right?
