How did i get divx

Hello,
I have DivX, but I don't know where or how I got that program. What happens if I uninstall it? Do I get to play my online movies without it? Can I still stream videos? However, I tried to uninstall it and I can't my laptop just freezes up every time I tried to uninstall it. I went to control panel, I checked all the little boxes it has .....BUT NOTHING.....FROZEN!!!

If you uninstall Divx, then any video encoded using that particular codec will no longer play. To that end, the overwhelming majority of videos I have seen on websites have been in Flash Video format, so uninstalling Divx would not impact you at all. It also will not hurt anything if trying to remove it causes problems with your computer.
