Building a Media Server for my house and am looking around 10TB and wanting to know what is the best option for reliability/longevity wise. Price is not a issue but i don't want to go towards 10,000rpm hd's as would cost me a arm and a leg to get 10tb out of lol. Ive been using Western Digital for last 10 years and have never had a issues but before i go buy this much space i want to be sure im getting the best and most reliable HD for a server

Yea im looking to spend around 2k on the server in total. hoping to use for 24/7 use for 6 - 8 years. It will only be used for multimedia, and small FTP uses. Is there a advantage for storage purpose with a 7200rpm hd over a 5400rpm ?? Also does anyone think it is a good idea to run a intel 320 SSD as OS drive ? or again will i see any benefit from this ?? Im new to the server side here. Thanks for any input will be greatly appreciated.
