Hello all

I was considering:
http://www.qnap.com/pro_detail_feature.asp?p_id=193
As I will be sharing it with my neighbor, the 2 net ports are needed.
BUT only 4 disks = 3 + recovery..
So I was thinking making a server with room for 6-7 disks.
The question is, what mb to use that will allow power down when idle and network wake up call?

Thanks in advance
Erik

I believe just about anything you can buy now would support Wake-on-LAN, and the option to power-down the machine or spin-down the drives when not in use. There are lots of boards that have 2 nics, but it's something you should look for as not all of them will. Will you be using an add-on raid controller or looking for a board with a built in one you could use? You've probably seen it on here already, but drives are also very expensive currently and it's a really bad time to try to build this cost wise. Personally I would love one of the qnap devices you mentioned, but they are just so expensive it's hard to justify one. You might also want to spend some time researching cases to find one that lets you hot-swap drives, or at least get to them easily.
