New processor today is immortal????

hi guys just asking ... i just want to know if the new processors today like i3, i5, i7 or quad core .. still has a life span of 6years above or are they immortal now .... because i remember the Pentium 1 and 4 before they have a life span of 6 or 8 years and thats the issue of smoking or exploding lap tops before ^_^ hehe :lol: :lol:
