Hello, I recently have been playing GW2 and I noticed my FPS is horrible. I checked my CPU and GPU temp's while playing and they are relitively low. So I was thinking, man what a waste.

Well, I don't know really anything about overclocking so bare with me. I'm just going to type down everything I know about my system and see if you can help me. Would be so helpful!!

Power Supply: Artcic 480 Watt

I'm sorry if some of this info below is the same as up top but I found this BELOW information in the BIOS

Total Memory: 8192MB
Dual-Channel DDR3-A1 4096/400MHz DDR3-800
Dual-Channel DDR3-A1 4096/400MHz DDR3-800

L1 CacheSize 256KB
L2 CacheSize 2048KB

BIOS Version: N68-VS3 UCC P1.10

PCIE Frequency: 100

Vcore:
1.392V
+3.30V
+5.00V
+12.00V

Processor Max: x14.5 2900MHz
North Bridge Max Frequency: x10.0 2000MHz

Idle CPU temp: 36C
Idle M/B temp: 32C
-------------------------------

I just want to note that the very second I click Guild wars 2 the Processors go from 800MHz to there max 2.9MHz and there VID 1.125 Volts go to there max 1.400 Volts

Thanks for looking at my such long list of stuff, would be nice to OC the graphics and CPU to play the game better.

Your CPU is no speed demon, but I think the GT 520 is probably your bottleneck. And overclocking that probably won't help much.

The 5 series GTX cards are coming down in price now that the 6 series is out.

You can pick up a GTX 560 for ~$140 now.

May I ask what you mean by bottleneck, I don't know much about this. Also I'v seen people say the athlon 245 is capable of up to 3.3-3.6MHz Overclock. I just want to play my game without being so slow :p

So if my GPU is slowing my CPU (I looked up what bottleneck ment) can I just overclock my GPU, it's only like 30$ so I see no damage being done.

Sure.

I used MSI to overclock a 210 once and saw no difference in performance though.

The problem is the relatively low core count of your 520. (48)

I would want at least a 550 Ti (192) or a GTX 560 (336)

Ok so for the past 10 minutes I have been messing around with MSI Afterburner changing the GPU. Currently in default state I get 32 FPS.

My graph reads GPU temp 40-50 Celsius when im playing, GPU usage is only 70-85 percent.

I changed the defaut core clock 810 to 950, absolutely no difference.
I changed the default memory clock 667 to 720, no difference same 32 FPS.

even when I upped the clocks my GPU temp and Percent pretty much stayed the same.

So i changed the core clock to 1000 and memory clock to 800 and my screen turned into spagetti and my gpu almost shut down, the reason I could tell is because in the graph there were points were the fan shut-off..

So why does this make no difference??

Also, My really really cheap ASrock motherboard has 2 slots where I see 2 GPU's could be put in. Could I just buy another cheap 30$ GT 520 and have the same results as something more expensive?

It makes no discernible difference because of the low core count.

You need two cards that are SLI capable for that and I doubt the 520 is.
