DDR2 vs. DDR3

My ASUS board is DDR2. Does this mean a DDR3 graphics card won't work on it? Or will it just work at DDR2 speed?

No. This means that the graphics card is using DDR3 - some even use DDR5. You will have no issues as long as you have the PCIE slot and power for it.
