hello Forum
Sorry in advance if the question is too ridiculess

Is socket 775 and LGA_775 the same thing?

And would an Intel E5400 CPU fit in a Socket 775 of a P4VBU-S7 Mother board?

775 and lga775 are the same thing but that does not mean that your board will accept that processor from what i could find it appears that board is really old and most likely wont work with an E5400.

Looks like the best processor it has on its support list is a Pentium D but you might be able to use a 65nm core 2 duo but the info for that board is very limited.

Its not running atm. I just though it would be worth the 70$ for a CPU to get it working. I'm looking to salvage parts I got laying around from a near-dead P4

Yea its not worth it at all IMO if your looking to build a really cheap system and Im guessing you got PSU and hard drive and some DDR2 ram go buy a cheap $40 AMD motherboard and a Cheap AMD Athlon x2. for under $100 you can have a basic little machine for surfing the web or what not.
