my pc has a disk space of 37.2gb. it says I am using 27.9gb. what is using so much gb? I've tried everything to clean up unused stuff. I only have 5 gigs of music and no movies or videos. literally the only thing I ever save is music. Is there a way I can pull up a list of programs/files that are taking up all the space?

Start -> Control Panel -> "Programs and Features" (Win Vista / 7) or "Software" (WinXP). That will show everything you have installed.

However 28gb-5gb music = 23gb, which isn't much for an OS and a few programs imo...

Do u have a page file? How much of the RAM do u have?

Did u use hibernation?

Do u use the system restore, is it ON?

How old is the windows installed?

U can u run Belarc and it will give u all the info about your PC including the installed programs, those u can copy here and we can advice u what is safe to get rid of or get better alternative @ http://www.belarc.com/free_download.html

To see where disk storage is being used, regardless of whether it is data / OS / hidden fooey, WinDirStat is an excellent first tool to use. Be sure to turn on display of hidden files.

If you have already gotten into more gritty details, this may be useless. As I said, I think of it as the first tool to use.
