Hi everybody,
I will expose my problem step by step, I wish somebody could help me on this:
1) We installed SUSE 10.0 on a SSD Kingstom with no problem. Everything worked.
2) We removed SUSE 10.0 and installed OpenSUSE 11.4, again no problems. We have been working fine for half a year.
3) We needed to remove the OpenSUSE and reinstall SUSE10.0 in order to command an encoder reader card. Problems begins here.
4) During the installation, the automatic SUSE 10.0 software is not able to see the SSD-drive ("No Hard Disk were found for the installation"). We do not understand why it could at point 1) (above) and is not able now.
5) We tried again with SystemRescue 2.2.0 and OpenSUSE 11.4 again and they can see the drive with no problems. So it seems something related to SUSE 10.0. BIOS can also see the device.
6) Looking at this forum we found some indications that it could be an issue related with CPU temperature or a bad communication between motherboard and SATA device.
7) We think temperature is not an issue. We have powered off the computer the whole night and power it on in the morning and the error still remains. Furthermore, I repeat it only happens with SUSE 10.0
8) We have two devices connected to SATA, one CD reader and the SSD.
9) We have exchanged SATA cables for both devices and also removed the CD reader so the SSD is the only device connected to the SATA bus (we use a external USB-CD reader to load SUSE 10.0). Nothing worked.
10) We also removed the 3V battery that feeds BIOS in order to restart the original values. It did not work either.
11) Summarizing. This issue only happens with SUSE 10.0 now and it did not happen 6 months ago or with OpenSuse11.4 before and now.
Any idea about what is happening and how to solve it?
Thanks in advance.
